I thought about this post as I was talking to a relative and it hit home...
Boredom in relationships. Yep. That's me all the way. I don't know what it is but every time I 'exhale' and am in a relationship, the shit hits the fan! We get comfortable. The infatuation/beginning phase ends and we are now a couple. This happens to me every freaking time. Its like we do the normal dating thing, i.e. movies, dinner, sex. But after a few months, then what? I always warn men before we get too acquainted that I am looking for a relationship. A man should know what your intentions are so that there is no confusion on any one's part. Another thing i tell is that, yes i am fiery, spontaneous and adventurous and I want a man that can keep up with that. I love new dates and ideas to keep our relationship fresh and spunky. And as usual, the guy says he wants the same. And it works for a while....then it stops. What am I doing to keep it fresh, u ask? Well i wont put myself out there like that but lets just say, I'm always suggesting something. I don't care what it is. Most of the time, it isn't an idea that is costly either. That is just the type of person i am.
On another note: is boredom an excuse to end what you have going? Is it that important to have a man that keeps you on your toes? I don't know. Lately Ive been looking back at my past relationships and have been trying to pinpoint certain areas that may need to be tweaked within myself. All women should do that. An example is a past serious relationship I was involved in. Even though, he wasn't the richest guy (hell he didn't have much at all) I loved him for the person he was. He did what he could for me and spoiled me. He cooked, cleaned, loved movie dates and made me feel very special. I didn't have to worry about other women or him hitting or disrespecting me. But he didn't like to go out and dance. He didn't like the club scene or being around alot of other people. And that's something that I do like. In that area, I did find him boring. I didn't want to be home ALL of the time. I live in CHICAGO people! I love my city and all that it has to offer, especially during the summer. Now that wasn't the only reason we ended our relationship but it played a large role. When i look back at it, I do miss him. Because the way I am feeling now, I want a man that does all of the above that he did. I could care less now that he doesn't like the clubs. As you grow older, you see the important things in life and cherish them. Ladies, i am not throwing advice out there, trust me. I am not the one to give advice on relationships. But make sure you figure out who you are as you grow older. Even though you may be bored with this guy, you may want to re-evaluate why you are with him in the first place and what it is you are looking for. Be honest with yourself. One love, Kry$
Very good Blog...I agree 100 percent that you should keep things fresh in a relationship...I specialize in that because I get bored easily and I'm open minded:)
ReplyDeletewow good job krys!!! well said and well done!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat point about women figuring out who we are and what we are looking for as we grow up. That is the first step AWAY from settling. Loving it!
ReplyDeleteVery well said! I think it takes a lot for someone to admit that they may have made mistakes in the past and that we should re-evaluate those things as we get older. I think U make a valid point! Keeping it "Fresh" is muy importante, and when our partner doesn't want to keep things interesting or fresh the WE might want to it is not grounds to get bored and move on... You're a couple- figure things out together, he likes to cook but doesn't like clubs-ok well let's cook together or take a cooking class together. Hell spice it up-when u all do cook together do it naked! Lol I feel like if there's an effort by the more "adventurous" partner to help the "boring" partner find things that will be new and fresh to the both of u, then you've done your part! But if Mr. Boring is not budging and wants to keep the monotony- leave is lame ASS at home! Lmao
