Its been too long...

Yes it has. I want to apologize to my followers and everyone reading. I have been so busy and on top of that, my beautiful and charismatic *cough, cough* mother of mine broke my laptop internet modem...smdh. So internet hasn't been easily accessible.

Anyhoot, I recently celebrated Mardi Gras with my bestie LC, my new friend Rory and Troy the Boy. Awesome time! I must say, everyone has to experience this crazy event at least once in life!
And #pow! There I am with my Mardi Gras attire! LOL Besides the drunken madness, the colorful beads falling from the sky and arrangement of boobies everywhere, I did have a sad moment to myself.

So we're crossing the bridge into New Orleans and due to the traffic, we were stuck for maybe 20 minutes in the same spot. As we're sitting there, I cant help but notice that we are in the very same place that the Katrina victims were. We were in view of the SuperDome. I immediately felt something. I cant describe the feeling but it definitely wasn't a happy 'lets get wasted' moment. It was like I was feeling what these victims felt when they were stuck on the bridge watching their homes, their city, their families wash away... It was almost like I was actually there. I know NOTHING is like actually being in that moment and seeing it for myself but that night, I felt something. Its so hard for me to describe. I cant ever imagine something that catastrophic happening in Chicago. I mean we just had one of the biggest blizzards recorded but hey...this is Chicago. We are known for our snow. We just take the punch to the gut and keep it moving. But in this situation, TO THIS DAY, people are STILL rebuilding their lives.

This isnt a post to make anyone sad. I wanted to pass this on to you all. Live, laugh, love. And thats the truth. With all thats happening in this world, you never know when its your last day. Stop taking advantage and appreciate. Love you all. Thanks for reading and make sure you follow me.
Big shout-out to my sister blog: www.kiss-my-fashion.blogspot.com

  1. I was thinking the same as we explored the city the day after Madi Gras. Especially when I was on the ferry because you can really see how home sit below sea level. I couldn't imagine going through that. But it so powerful to see that through it they still have high spirits and continue to rebuild.
