Today's post comes from my little sister Kaya Flowers and touches on an issue we've all faced... Enjoy!
If I had a dollar for every time a guy with a girlfriend or wife approached me, I'd buy a pair of meeeeean six inch heels... & use those heels to poke the next dudes eyes out! Okay, maybe not. But I would buy some sick shoes. ;).
Everyone has been in a similar situation, whether you've been the person in a relationship or the person being approached. Not only is this wrong, but its annoying as heck!
Let me break something down for you: if you are in an exclusive relationship with a person, there is no reason for you to try to talk to someone else. I've heard every excuse possible from men and women in relationships that have stepped out on their other halves... 'Me and her are on a break, stop trippin!' 'He doesn't have to know. ;).' 'We're just together for [our children, my papers, the 20s on my car, etc].'
SKRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRCH!
There is a NO excuse for infidelity! If you are with someone, have enough respect for your partner to deny a person who approaches you. Do yourself a favor and save yourself & others the trouble. [No one enjoys being called by someone's boyfriend/girlfriend trying to figure out how your number got into their partners phone. *rolling my eyes*.]
For the people that think this is okay, consider this: you do not want to be on either end of this. Who wants to be cheated on? I don't know many people that are willing to allow their partner to cheat. [That Hall Pass movie was just that... A movie!]. & who wants to be someones side piece? Not I!
We are way to valuable for this nonsense. I strongly believe that we each have someone out there for us. How we carry ourselves and how we allow people to treat us will greatly impact meeting this person. Be open to meeting new people, but know what distance to keep them at and most importantly, set boundaries early on to let them know 'Homie, don't play that!' No one deserves to be cheated on and no one deserves to be someone's side dish.
And if you're caught up trying to keep your partner AND person on the side satisfied, you're going to burn yourself out and probably burn something else.. If you know what I mean!
Keep in mind that people who want to cheat will do it whether its with you or on you. If you want to know whether the person you're talking to has a significant other or if the person you're committed to has been messing around, look for a few things. Facebook pages reveal a lot! [Petty, I know, but its true!] I always do a thorough check of someone's page if I'm interested. We call this the 'FBI'.. Facebook investigation! It can reveal much more about a person than they will upfront. Don't get carried away and interpret every status, wall post or event invite as a sign that someone is being dishonest! But definitely keep your eyes open. The way someone handles their cell phone is also a great indication to their 'extra'curricular activities. If you just met a person and you two are out for the first time, they probably aren't single if they constantly have to check their phones as to not get caught up. LOL. Just saying!
If you know your partner wouldn't approve of you calling another person at 2am just to see 'what's up' then don't do it. And if you know the reason you only talk to your new beau is during the day because they go home to a wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend in the evening, then cut it out. Respect yourself! Respect others! And, most importantly, just keep it real. ;).
Love it!!!!!!
