Does wearing a weave make me fake?
That is such an open-ended, full on fight type of question. Mainly because alot of women use weaves, extensions, fake eyelashes and love them! Hell, I love a good weave! And every so often, I glue some eyelashes on. But does that make me a fake or shallow person? Do men look at women in that light?
I have come across this conversation with men and some of them dont mind at all. Some men even ask (once they become comfortable enough) because it looks so real. And of course, there are those men that love their women with the colorful, ghetto weaves that cover one eye and is long on one side and wraps around her entire head. lmao jkjk But some men hate weaves and other fake add-ons. Some men prefer their woman to be all natural. No fake nails, lashes, weaves, breasts, butts...au naturale! They want a woman to display her real looks and not to 'fool' them. For me, I am definitely not trying to fool anyone. I just like my hair longer sometimes and other times I want to wear my own hair. Its that simple.
OAN: Do you think a woman wearing a weave, fake nails, eyelashes, contacts, etc. is fake? In some way, does wearing all of these masks make her shallow and insecure to be herself? Is she trying to display another side of herself because the real woman is not confident enough to show? What is it that women get out of wearing all of this stuff? Lets turn this into a discussion. I would love to hear EVERYONE'S opinion, male and female.

It doesn't make you fake at all, its the overusage is what kills me. I have no problem with wearing it here and there but if its every other week, then yeah its a issue...
ReplyDeleteThanks Marvin. So even if a woman always has her looking nice all the time with a weave, that still bothers you?
ReplyDeleteI hate to make exceptions, but if she keeps it maintained its OK....I just really endorse natural beauty. Women really get caught up with weaves an I can't never see what they were ideally born with. For example, I would rather have a woman with short hair that a woman who wears weaves 95% of the time
ReplyDeleteI think it says more when women CAN'T live without those things. If you can't go without nails, lashes or ESPECIALLY a weave you're definitely insecure. Use such things in moderation so you can see the REAL you sometimes ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm not the biggest fan of the weave and other accessories, but I would never say it makes a woman fake. I do believe if a man was to inquire about it, then a woman should let it be known, because in that instance she would be fake for not being truthful. Natural beauty is by far the best, but if a woman can keep it looking nice, go for it...
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your input. Lauren, you make a VALID point..and Natural Beauty is definitely a plus, thanks Marvin and MrPure! ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't think it makes a person shallow or fake until they start basing their image on artificial things. Once upon a time I had a gf that I never saw her real hair!!!!! That was crazy as hell but she still wasn't "attached" to the weave.
ReplyDeleteYes, it makes you fake. Everyone wants to be an exception when it's comfortable but then turn around and act holier than thou. Being fake doesn't make you a bad person but not liking what you already have says something about you as a person. It's not a bad thing to wear a weave but to say you're not being fake is just naive. Think about it, most women and some men at the sight of a woman with implants will be the first to say "look at that fake bitch", if you say that you can't be angry when someone says the same about you if your neck looks like burnt rice crispies but you have on Hawaiian Silky on your scalp. Yes, you're being fake, but it doesn't make you a bad person.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments Aaron and Tavarras! I totally agree with both statements. I think a woman has some type of insecurity about herself if she is wearing fake nails, hair, lashes and/or boobs. They are enhancements. And there is something to say about the woman that cant live without these things as well....
