There has always been this debate about whether Belize is a Third World Country or a Developing Nation. I know that in Chicago, I have come across little jokes here and there about where my family comes from. Most Americans think Belize still has outhouses and we still ride horses everywhere. (well thats semi-true...but not everywhere) Some ppl think of Kingston, Jamaica or that Belize is a slum. I haven't been back to Belize since 2001. (i kno, i kno) but I do see alot of photos from friends on FB and I would have to say, it looks the same. Then again, I wasn't born and raised there. I've only been twice and have kept those memories of Orange Walk and the City.
What I am truly blogging about today is this: if we are a so called developing nation, (which we have been for years since we gained independence in 1981) then why so much increasing debt? It seems that Belize is borrowing money left and right but there is definitely an increase in violence and alot of ppl still living in poverty. This post is definitely a discussion. Please add your input and school me on what you think.
One love,
\Kry$
